Catholic Safeguarding Advisory Service (CSAS)
As of July 2008, the Catholic Office for the Protection of Children and Vulnerable Adults (COPCA) ceased to exist and the Catholic Safeguarding Advisory Service was launched as the national agency for safeguarding within the Catholic Church in England & Wales.
CSAS will have a website (www.csas.uk.net) - however this site is currently under development.
In the meantime, the policies currently in place within the Catholic Church of England & Wales are available to view from the 'Documents' section of the COPCA site.
The Cumberlege Commission
Chaired by Baroness Cumberlege, the aim of the independent Cumberlege Commission was to review the way the Catholic Church in England and Wales responded to Lord Nolan's report: ' A programme for Action' (2001). It looked specifically at how the Church implemented the 83 recommendations made to improve the arrangements for safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.
