International Development

The work of international development is undertaken by CAFOD, which is the international aid agency of the Catholic Church in England and Wales.

CAFOD shares in the Church’s task of transforming the world to reflect the Kingdom of God, through solidarity with the poor and action for justice. All human beings have a right to dignity and respect, and that the world's resources are a gift to be shared equally by all men and women, whatever their race, nationality or religion.

CAFOD’s mission is to promote human development and social justice in witness to Christian faith and Gospel values.

Go to the Department of International Affairs to find out about the bishops' work in international development.
