Department of International Affairs - Work

INTERNATIONAL JUSTICE and PEACE
The Department briefs and represents the bishops on issues relating to international justice and development in the light of the Church's social teaching, particularly on issues of world poverty, peace, human rights and security.

COMMITTEE for OVERSEAS MISSION
The Committee for Overseas Mission supports the bishops in the promotion and implementation of the Church's contemporary missionary vision in England and Wales. The Committee comes under the remit of the Pontifical Mission Societies, which comprise the Association for the Propagation of the Faith, the Pontifical Missionary Union, the Society of St Peter the Apostle and Mission Together.

ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE
The Department briefs and represents the bishops on issues of environmental responsibility and justice in the light of the Church's teaching on the gift of creation and our care and respect for it.

EUROPEAN AFFAIRS
The Department informs and advises the bishops on issues relating to Europe in the light of the Church's social teaching.
