Purpose: |
The Marriage and Family Life Project Officer has responsibility for supporting dioceses implementing the plan of collaborative action approved by the Bishops in April 2005, arising from the priorities identified in Listening 2004: A need for welcoming, family-sensitive, friendly parishes where Christian community thrives and sustains the lives of those both at its heart and on the margins. A need to deepen and share among laity and clergy alike a much wider understanding of marital and family spirituality as the heart of the domestic church. A need to explore and better understand what we mean by passing on faith in God, the primary role of parents and to equip them accordingly. |
This group advises the Bishops' Conference on healthcare issues and liaises with the Bishops' advisers on Healthcare Chaplaincy.

The work of this group is to support Catholics involved in the ministry or services to Travellers and to address issues related to the welfare of Travellers.

The Urban Network brings together those who wish to be involved in the Church’s work with poor communities in our inner-cities and outer estates. As individuals, agencies and groups, it is committed to:
· the enabling of local people to act together for the common good and
· raising issues of public policy relevant to urban communities.
The Urban Network Round Table meets three times a year and occasionally organises other initiatives. Members keep in touch through personal contact, email and the Caritas website.
Membership and full participation in the Network is open to all without cost, and where possible travel expenses are reimbursed for those who have no other way of funding their involvement. We are a network within Caritas – social action and share their commitment to Catholic Social Teaching. For further information please contact Richard Zipfel.
At any one time a number of discrete public policy issues outside these strategic priorities are being addressed by time-limited ad hoc working groups chaired by one of the Department Bishops and involving lay experts.
