Cardinal and bishops celebrate the start of the Year of St Paul
Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor celebrated Mass in Westminster Cathedral on Saturday (28 June) to inaugurate the Pauline Year.
The Cardinal, who blessed an icon of St Paul donated by St Pauls Bookshop, was joined by more than 500 people, including three bishops, the Abbot of Farnborough and many priests from the diocese of Westminster .
Before the Mass, Bishop Michael Campbell, Coadjutor Bishop of Lancaster, was in St Pauls Bookshop to launch his latest book, The Greatest of These is Love, a book of meditations on St Paul.
Bishop Bernard Longley, Auxiliary Bishop of Westminster, joined musician Jeremy de Satge of the Music Makers in the bookshop to promote their CD Magnus Sanctus Paulus.
Stephen Moseling, Operations Co-coordinator of St Pauls Bookshops was delighted with the Mass and events describing them as “a wonderful start to what should be a very important year for us all, as we have been given the opportunity to contemplate on how the life and writings of St Paul can deepen our witness as Christians.”
