Anglican funeral director ‘moved’ to take a month out to care for the relics of St. Thérèse
7 Sept 09
When Somerset funeral director Adrian Forsey was approached by Logistics Manager Major David Baldwin to advise on the transportation of such a unique and revered cargo, he immediately scoured the internet for videos of previous tours of the relics of St. Thérèse of Lisieux.
Adrian is an Anglican but was moved by his online research to get more involved with the tour.
“I could see from the footage what people gained by paying pilgrimage to her and I just felt it was a once in a lifetime opportunity and I’m very privileged to be involved in such a visit.”
Adrian has now committed a month of his time, taking a break from the family business, to care for and drive the relics in a specially-adapted hearse around England and Wales on the tour. But is he hoping to spend some time with the relics when they’re on public display?
“Definitely. I want to experience the whole occasion but I’m interested to observe other people’s reactions and what they may gain in paying pilgrimage to the relics - I’m particularly pleased its open to all denominations.”
