Solemn Vespers the night before Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor's funeral

The Most Reverend Bernard Longley, Archbishop of Birmingham, delivered the sermon at the Solemn Vespers in Westminster Cathedral, with Cardinal Vincent Nichols presiding, as part of the Funeral Rites for Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor.

The service took place at 5pm on Tuesday 12 September after the late Cardinal Murphy-O'Connor's body was received into the cathedral earlier in the day.

Archbishop Bernard commented:

"I regard it as a great privilege to be asked to preach at the Solemn Vespers for Cardinal Cormac - he was a wonderful bishop and a true friend whom we shall miss enormously."
